Russian National Ballet Theatre – the Sleeping Beauty

Published by kaebrown at 3:46 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

It had been a long time since we’d been to a cultural show such as this.  Both Troy and I really enjoy the ballet, so I’m not really sure why that is.  Perhaps this experience will renew our interest in the theatre and result in more shows attended.

Regardless of why we attended, the show was pretty fantastic.  The costumes were beautifully done.  They surrounded the characters of beauty with a halo of sparkles that contrasted sharply with the dark sinister-ness of the evil Fairy Carabosse.

The dancing conveyed a light airiness that ballet does so very well.  The fairies were like flowers twirling in a light summer breeze around and across the stage. The renditions of the fairy tales done in Act III was very entertaining as well. My favorite being that of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.

I would recommend the show to others as well as see it again myself.
